This is the Reef Moonshiner’s complex of a variety of specific and very carefully chosen free and combined Amino Acids and other partnering compounds to replenish those in levels as they do exist in natural seawater around Coral Reefs.

Amino Acids are required for all lifeforms including Corals and Invertebrates to perform simple and complex biochemical processes in their metabolism which has an effect on their health, growth, fluorescence and coloration at the end.

Corals will take up different Amino acids through Food, Biochemical processes inside the coral, as well direct and indirectly through the water.

The natural seawater does contain in it's organic matrix a very small amount of specific Amino Acids.

Adding Amino acids to an enclosed Aquarium system does need careful attention, since the very useful Amino acids, can also fuel and support many organisms that can cause harm to ourself, our fish and corals, which in these cases is mostly from very harmful bacteria, fungi or opportunistic harmful algae if excessively populating.

It is of importance as well to choose the right Amino Acid product, since not all Amino Acids find a useful role in our Aquarium! Some products on the market are combinations of Amino Acids that partially contain Amino acids that are not needed in its form in the water column, or not required at all in a marine Aquarium as of today’s knowledge basis. Useless or excess Amino acid species are just “aging” in the water and cause a long-term pollution, depressing our PH unnecessarily and contribute to the increase of organics and waste build up in the Reef Aquarium. Many Hobbyists have heard the rumors and seen the stories of other Hobbyists also that Amino Acids causing bacterial outbreak in their Coral tanks, which is mostly from the effect that certain Amino acids do fuel bad bacteria and Pathogens for Corals have been found to benefit from the supplementation of Amino Acids. 

Why even adding Aminos if there is so much risk to it?

Amino Acids are important building blocks and play a vital role in the metabolism of the coral such as processing trace elements, transporting Vitamins, controlling growth speed, and many other important aspects in the Corals inner bacteria biology which is mostly unexplored.

Even while a Reef tank is fed with nutritious Frozen foods, high quality grown Phytoplankton and Zooplankton, not all Amino Acid types are available in the water as they ideally need to be, that is just from the limited environment of an enclosed Aquarium, where the entire food and nutrient supply depends on the Aquarium owner and his feeding habit and choice of Products.

Fresh tanks for example will lack more on Aminos in the Water as a matured tank, where a Pool of fresh and aged Amino Acids have been built up over time. So a fresh tank may benefit more than a matured tank, however, on the other side a fresh tank doesn’t have a well matured bacteria biology to keep harmful bacteria in balance so that can be a risk as well.

When do I start the MegAminos as part of the Reef Moonshiner’s method?

Do not use MegAminos in the beginning phase before you have not performed at least 2-3 corrections and you have an established dosing routine and an established process with testing and dosing and corrections.

Key for success with Amino acids is a healthy tank with no limitations in Trace Elements or Nutrients.

If you run into problems or depleted Trace elements or nutrients, pause the MegAminos preventively to minimize issues, and continue when Chemistry, Biology or Nutrients are back to normal.

Do not use while combat Dinoflagellate issues, resolve those first.

Handling and Storage:

Shake or swirl gently prior every use.

1ml – 5ml per 100 Gallon tank water, start slow as described above

Product does not need refrigeration, however the maximum potency and useful life is extended when kept refrigerated.

Refrigeration is therefore strongly recommended!

Product is good for use for 1 year at least after opening if kept refrigerated after opening.

Avoid cross contamination with Aquarium water, other products, keep Syringe and dosing tools clean and use only for this Product and bottle.

DO NOT MICROWAVE this Product.
